Min Tanaka and Derek Bailey performed an improvisation at the Miró Foundation's Sculpture Garden as part of the Nights of Music series in 2004. An improvisation that, as an event, never lost its place in memory. Min Tanaka and Derek Bailey performed together for more than two decades, irregularly, beginning in 1978. How can we approach what Tanaka and Bailey called "free improvisation"? "What I do is not precious," Derek Bailey said.

Twenty years later, now, on October 24, 2025, Ferran Fages and Carme Torrent insert themselves into a reenactment. However, the reenactment of an improvisation is, in fact, a great paradox. It neither seeks to identify nor privileges an original authenticity; it escapes representation. Dances that return, sounds to come, modulations, re-cyclings, re-iterations, while the greenery turns green and grows again.

Places between memories opens to the timbres of a web of relationships while subtracting something new, some difference, from repetition. Memories between places, in their constitutive precariousness, in perceptual blind spots, memory lapses, linguistic indeterminacies, muscular tremors, sounds, relocate and deflect relationships between relationships.

Thus, the reenactment proposed by Carme Torrent and Ferran Fages seeks to account for that which is singular, that which cannot be thematized, objectified, that which cannot be analogized.
